Timbuk2 Blogger Laptop Messenger Bag

Timbuk2 brand messenger bags never fail to impress me. I was browsing around and came across their Blogger laptop messenger bag and it looks like a messenger bag I would buy. First off, the fact that they geared it towards the blogger is cool in itself. I can’t speak for everyone but being a blogger myself owning a variety of blogs, I dig it when there are products geared toward the blogger.

The big plus for this blogger messenger bag is the fact that - of course - it is made to hold a laptop. What is a blogger without a laptop? That is like peanut butter without the jelly, coffee without the cream, cereal without…you get the idea.

It is a vertical computer bag featuring 360-degree padded laptop protection (fits 13″ and 15″ laptops.) The laptop compartment is also corduroy-lined and padded. The back of the bag has extra padding along with a quick-release shoulder strap. This particular bag pictured here is made of ballistic nylon but you can also purchase it in mink fabric.

The bag size only comes in medium and the dimensions are as follows:

Height - 15 in.
Depth - 6 in.
Weight - 2.4 lbs.

This makes a great bag for the blogger as it is a perfect size for hauling not only your laptop but other necessities while your traveling from coffee shop to bookstore and more. I can picture myself hanging out in a nice park gathering my thoughts for my next blog post with this bag by my side. I think I just sold myself!

How Much Would You Pay for a Good Messenger Bag?

Personally I don’t mind spending $50 and up for a good quality messenger bag. However, I am all about a good deal so if I find a sale or major discount, it makes me just as happy as the next bargain hunter. I look at the price of messenger bags the way I do for most products I buy - you get what you pay for.

If you don’t care about the brand or type of messenger bag you buy then buying a cheap bag is not an issue for you. Cheap products tend to tear up or break quickly. I don’t want that happening with any messenger bag I buy. I need my bag to serve a purpose which is to carry my things while protecting them while making it convenient for me to tote them around.

You can find really good bags for $25 and up that will serve your purposes fine. If you are picky and need specific features like water proof, lots of pockets, laptop holder, etc., then you may end up paying a bit more for a good messenger bag. Patagonia Half Mass Messenger Bag

I’m fairly new to the Patagonia brand bags but they definitely look promising. The bag that caught my eye was the Patagonia Half Mass messenger bag. Like most messenger bags, it has the common style going but they have put a lot of thought into this bag.

While it is great for bike messengers, it also works well for the day job, for school, or every day use. This messenger bag was built to be rain proof so if you live in a rainy climate it will work well. It also has a padded, suspended computer sleeve that can hold a 15″ laptop. That is important for me as I take my laptop with me for most places. I try to have messenger bags that can carry laptops as well as being a fashion accessory.

The Patagonia Half Mass also works well as a gym bag. It has an elastic stuff pocket and water bottle pocket. External side pockets on this bag also work out well for holding keys, a cell phone, or a spare laptop battery. If I were to purchase this bag, I would definitely use it for the gym or for travel. It is built to be sturdy which is great but I probably wouldn’t consider it for times when I want to compliment a certain look. Overall, I think it is a great every day messenger bag.

The Timbuk2 Lex Pack

Are you a serious bicycle messenger? If so, then you have probably heard of this bicycle messenger bag from Timbuk2 called the “Lex Pack.” This messenger bag was designed by a bicycle messenger named Joe Urich who has nine years under his belt as a bike messenger. He also interned at Timbuk2 for a summer. What is so cool about this bag is the fact that it is made like a backpack with the straps on the back.

Many bike messengers prefer this style of wear. While the single sling strap on most messenger bags is still my favorite, I can see how the double straps can come in handy if you are really working your way through traffic as well as in and out of buildings. I suppose the side carry of typical messenger bags can be a hindrance for some people. For the casual user, single straps are much easier to tote around.

However, I can totally find use out of the Lex pack. The medium size is just right for daily use but if you need more room, it is also available in large and extra large sizes. Timbuk2 also took care in building it for comfort with extra padded shoulder straps and a molded back panel. Overall the bag is lightweight and comes with removable extension straps for oversized packages (L, XXL only.) I think Joe did an excellent job in designing this bag and I can see why it is a popular choice among bike messengers as well as for regular folks. There is no bag quite as stylish as the leather messenger bag. A leather messenger bag can be worn with casual attire or with a power suit on the way to work. You can find them in styles from brand new or more of a weathered and worn look. Colors also vary from black to tan and you can even find them in suede.

I’ve always been a fan of leather messenger bags and if you’re a bag junkie like me, then you are sure to have at least one in your collection. I love them because you can look good carrying it even if you’re wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Yet, the bag is versatile enough to use to and from work. My favorite leather messenger bags include space for a laptop.

These bags are always a cool look for men or women. I don’t know if teens would care much for the leather but if they are into fashion, I can imagine they wouldn’t say no to using one. Dickies Messenger Bag

The Dickies messenger bag is another great messenger bag that looks great for day to day use. I have always been fond of Dickies quality in their clothing line so I’m sure the way they have manufactured their bags is no different. Dickies is known for long lasting material and being able to handle a lot of wear and tear.

Just like their clothing their messenger bag includes the famous Dickies logo right on the front. The one pictured to the right is probably one of their most basic style of messenger bag but I like simple styles just as much as a wild pattern. It really all depends on the mood and also what I am wearing. Dickies also have their bags designed in various patterns including camouflage.

They also include backpacks, laptop bags and more. Dickies messenger bags are inexpensive and you still get a good quality bag for the price. School kids probably love the Dickies brand more so than adults but I wouldn’t mind toting around the Dickies brand bag at all.

When you think of the classic messenger bag, you can’t help but to immediately think of Timbuk2 classic messenger bags. Really, they have set the standard. You can find a number of bike messengers sporting these classic bags around in any busy city - New York city being a primary area.

What I love best about Timbuk2 bags is that you can customize them in so many color choices. You can also find a wide variety of patterns as well if you don’t care for the solid colors. Personally, I like the solid colors. Most colors look great in the Timbuk2 classic messenger bag.
